Patriots sign LB Steele Chambers, release LB Jay Person

On Tuesday, the New England Patriots made a couple of roster moves. They claimed linebacker Steele Chambers off waivers, while linebacker Jay Person was waived from the 90-man roster in a corresponding move. Chambers had previously been let go by the Lions after they signed linebacker Ben Niemann.

Chambers, who went undrafted out of Ohio State in April, had impressive stats during his time with the Buckeyes including 207 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, three sacks, four interceptions, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery over the last three seasons. The Patriots’ decision to make these roster moves was likely based on their evaluation of the team’s needs and available talent.

Similarly, Jay Person was also undrafted this year and had previously played at Appalachian State and Chattanooga before entering the professional ranks. The Patriots’ decision to make these roster moves was likely based on their evaluation of the team’s needs and available talent. The team is constantly looking to improve and make adjustments to their roster in order to field the best possible team on game day.
