World Central Kitchen reveals the identities of employees who lost their lives in Gaza

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the non-profit organization World Central Kitchen (WCK) recently lost seven employees who were killed by Israeli airstrikes in Gaza. The employees had been on their way back from a mission when the strike occurred, according to a statement from WCK CEO Erin Gore.

The victims included Saifeddin Issam Aydan Abutaha, Lalzawami Frankcom, Damian Soból, Jacob Flickinger, John Chapman, James Henderson, and James Kirby. Abutaha, Frankcom, Soból, and Flickinger were part of the WCK relief team while Chapman, Henderson and Kirby were part of the security team.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed regret over the incident calling it a “tragic event” and an “unintended strike”. He promised to take steps to prevent any further incidents from occurring. WCK founder José Andrés called on the Israeli government to stop indiscriminate killing and prevent any more innocent lives from being lost.

The organization had recently sent food shipments to Gaza with the employees delivering over 100 tons of food shortly before the incident. The employees who lost their lives in the airstrike were among many who had traveled around the world to participate in relief efforts following wars and natural disasters. On March 12th, another ship carrying 200 tons of food was set to depart for Gaza with more planned in future shipments.

The deaths of these brave humanitarians have been mourned by their friends and families as well as the wider humanitarian community who are committed to ending this ongoing conflict that has caused so much suffering for innocent people living in Gaza.
