Turkey tracks peacekeeper withdrawal from Nagorno Karabakh

In a recent meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Turkish President Recep Erdogan announced that Turkey is closely monitoring the withdrawal process of Russian peacekeeping forces from Nagorno-Karabakh. The Russian peacekeeping troops began to withdraw from Karabakh earlier than expected, with the end of the peacekeeping mission scheduled for mid-April 2024.

During their conversation, Erdogan also mentioned that he was keeping an eye on “construction works” in what he referred to as the “liberated” areas. The two leaders had a private discussion and then shared lunch together.

As a result of Azerbaijan’s military aggression in Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19-20, 2023, Artsakh was depopulated and led to approximately 105 thousand Artsakh Armenians seeking refuge in Armenia.
