US Women’s Team Advances to World Championships Semifinals After Beating Australia 10-9

The US Women’s National Team has advanced to the semifinal round of the 2024 World Aquatics World Championships in Doha, Qatar. Maddie Musselman scored three goals for Team USA, with Jenna Flynn and Maggie Steffens each adding two in the win. Ashleigh Johnson made a total of 11 saves for Team USA.

In the first quarter, Flynn and Steffens were the only scores for the United States, making it 2-3 in favor of Australia. Later on, Musselman scored two goals to make it 5-3 at halftime. In the third quarter, Johnson made a total of 8 saves for Team USA.

Steffens and Jovana Sekulic each added another goal to make the final score 8-3 in favor of Australia. However, Roemer scored a 10th goal for Team USA to take their lead back to one point at 9-8 in favor of Australia with just one minute left on the clock. Australia scored five unanswered goals in that final minute to win the game by a score of 14-9 and advance to the finals instead of Team USA.
