Pharmacy Students Refine Business Ventures in Dolphin Tank

In the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy’s (UMSOP) Pharmapreneurship® pathway, students recently presented their business ideas in the Dolphin Tank pitching event. This event served as a year-end capstone project and was a gentler version of the popular TV show Shark Tank.

The Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students participating in the pathway began learning about developing a business idea and bringing it to market in the fall. Throughout the year, they studied entrepreneurial topics such as market research, customer discovery, business planning, finances, patent laws, and application development.

The Dolphin Tank event provided these students with an opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills they acquired throughout the year. They received feedback and guidance from industry experts which helped them refine their business ideas and better prepare them for the challenges of entrepreneurship.

Overall, the Dolphin Tank event is an essential part of UMSOP’s Pharmapreneurship pathway. It helps students develop their business ideas and acquire the necessary skills to succeed in pharmaceutical entrepreneurship’s competitive world.
