Josh Sargent ruled out of Colombia friendly, may be unavailable for Copa America

Josh Sargent, the American forward, is unsure if he will be able to play in the upcoming friendly match against Colombia on June 8, 2024. He also faces a possibility of being left off the Copa America roster due to his recent injury. Sargent, who hails from O’Fallon, Missouri, is 24 years old and had a successful season with Norwich in England’s League Championship, scoring 16 goals in 26 league games. However, he ended the season with foot swelling, which has limited his availability for upcoming matches.

According to US coach Gregg Berhalter, Sargent will not be fit to play against Colombia and his availability for the Brazil game is uncertain. The coaching staff will have to make a decision on whether he will be included in the Copa America roster based on his fitness level. Following the Colombia game, the US team will face Brazil in their next match.

In case of Sargent’s absence from the squad, Folarin Balogun, Ricardo Pepi, and Haji Wright are the other forwards on the US roster who may have to step up and fill the void left by Sargent in the upcoming matches. It remains to be seen what impact Sargent’s absence would have on the US team’s performance in these matches.
