Behold: Wheelbarrow Sets New World Record by Reaching Speeds Exceeding 52 mph

On June 6th, a British mechanic named Dylan Phillips achieved a Guinness World Record by reaching a speed of 52.58 mph with his motorized wheelbarrow. The idea of breaking a record never crossed Phillips’ mind until someone inquired about the existence of such a record.

Phillips set the record during Straightliners Speed Week 2024 at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire. Although he expressed discomfort and fear while driving the wheelbarrow at high speeds due to the lack of proper brakes and suspension, Phillips felt a sense of pride and accomplishment for achieving something so unconventional yet thrilling.

Reflecting on his experience, Phillips admitted that the whole endeavor was quite nonsensical but nonetheless satisfying. Despite the discomfort and physical strain from the lack of suspension, he was able to push through and make multiple successful runs with his unique creation. He expressed a mixture of excitement and relief for not encountering any accidents during his record-breaking attempts.
