Employees at Meta earn a median pay of $379,000 annually

Meta, previously known as Facebook, has a median employee pay of just over $379,000 in 2023. This is higher than the average tech job but in line with what Google and Amazon pay their workers. The company has around 67,000 employees, leading to a wide range in pay scales.

In terms of roles within Meta, software engineers and researchers tend to earn more in base pay than product designers and user experience professionals. However, even with this high median salary, Big Tech companies like Google and Amazon also have positions that pay well above $300,000.

Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s total compensation in 2023 was $24.4 million, with most of it coming from security and logistical expenses. Despite his high compensation, Zuckerberg only took a $1 salary last year, with the majority of his wealth tied to stock options. However, Meta has been on an efficiency drive since 2022 and has reported strong earnings while also planning to increase investments in AI. This has made investors cautious about the company’s future.
