Sources confirm French Open and TNT Sports have reached a 10-year, $650 million agreement.

Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) has secured a 10-year, $650 million deal to become the new home of the French Open in the United States starting in 2025. This move comes as WBD, which is also known for its sports content through TNT Sports, is in negotiations with the NBA to retain some rights to games.

According to Variety, WBD Sports has agreed to air the French Open on its cable networks and HBO Max, with Bleacher Report serving as the digital hub. The company currently holds European broadcasting rights for the event through its operation of Eurosport pay-TV Networks. In addition to the French Open, WBD’s sports offerings include first-round and quarterfinal college football playoff games through its sub-licensing deal with ESPN for the next five years. The company also holds rights to other major sporting events such as MLB playoffs, NHL postseason, NASCAR and more.

As negotiations with the NBA continue, WBD Sports executives are exploring various options to secure additional rights. While Amazon Prime Video has a framework agreement with the league worth $1.8 billion per year, ESPN and NBC have outlines for agreements at $2.6 billion and $2.5 billion per season respectively. WBD chairman David Zaslav has indicated that he may exercise matching rights to retain some of these NBA rights but commissioner Adam Silver has acknowledged that this situation is complex due to different players involved in it.

Amidst these negotiations, WBD Sports continues to expand its offerings in the United States by providing viewers with a diverse range of sports content. With ongoing discussions with potential partners like ESPN and NBC’s NBA rights negotiation still underway, WBD is focused on securing more deals that will help them establish themselves further as a leader in sports broadcasting industry
