On Wednesday, West Branch third baseman Beau Alazaus delivered a dominating performance that led his team to a 10-0 victory over Minerva at Carl Michael Field. Alazaus had two hits, including a two-run single in the fourth inning and a two-run double in the sixth. Senior Jaxon Robb, who played his first game since freshman year after receiving medical clearance earlier in the day, also contributed with two hits and three runs scored.

West Branch scored single runs in the first three innings, with Hunter Shields scoring on a wild pitch in the first and Charlie Biskup walking and eventually scoring on a fielder’s choice in the second. Boston Mulinix also had two stolen bases during the game. On the mound for West Branch, Anthony Perry pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks, earning him the win.

Minerva struggled to keep up with West Branch’s offense, with their only hit coming from Brayden Wood going 2-for-3 at the plate. Wood took the loss on the mound, giving up five runs (three earned) on four hits in three-plus innings. With this victory, West Branch improves its overall record to 5-0 and its Eastern Buckeye Conference record to 2-0, while Minerva falls to 0-4 and 0-2 in the EBC.

West Branch will face Marlington next Tuesday as they continue their quest for dominance in the EBC. The final score of this game was Minerva 0 and West Branch 10.
