Huawei Fiber Technology Deployed by Peru’s WIN

In Lima, Peruvian operator WIN has teamed up with Huawei to deploy symmetrical XGSPON technology in their network. This cutting-edge technology will improve fiber optics in residential homes and small businesses, achieving speeds of up to 10Gbps. Currently, the network is powered by GPON technology, providing speeds of up to 1Gbps.

WIN’s commercial vice president, Víctor Jáuregui, spoke about the company’s commitment to improving connectivity in Peru and highlighted the potential for this new technology to drive digital transformation in the market. The company is focused on developing equipment that supports this technology in order to make it more accessible to a wider audience.

According to recent data from regulator Osiptel, WIN came in third place in the local market in 3Q23, with 436,093 users. Although they trailed behind Telefónica and Claro, WIN experienced an impressive growth of 282% in the number of users over the past year.
