The Eagles are adding more muscle to their offensive line with the signing of former Jets tackle Mekhi Becton. Becton, a 2020 first-round pick, is expected to join Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata in the tackle rotation in Philadelphia.
The deal with Becton is worth up to $5.5 million for the upcoming season, announced his agents Alan Herman and Jared Fox. Despite having a promising rookie season with the Jets, Becton’s playing time was limited in the following two seasons due to knee injuries. As a result, the Jets did not renew his option for 2025 and decided not to re-sign him after he started 16 games in the 2023 season.
In Philadelphia, Becton will have the opportunity to prove himself once again as part of the Eagles’ offensive line rotation. With his size and athleticism, he has the potential to be a valuable addition to the team’s tackle group. The Eagles hope that Becton can help bolster their offensive line and provide more protection for quarterback Jalen Hurts.
