New Zealand Squad for T20 World Cup 2024: Devon Conway declared fit, Kane Williamson named captain

New Zealand has announced its provisional 15-man squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Only Matt Henry and Rachin Ravindra will be playing in their first T20 World Cup. The squad, led by Kane Williamson, includes experienced players Tim Southee and Trent Boult. Devon Conway has been named in the squad after recovering from a broken thumb, while Ben Sears has been included as the 16th traveling reserve.

Conway had previously been ruled out of the IPL due to his thumb injury but is now fit for the World Cup. Williamson returns to lead the team after missing the last two T20I series. Fast bowler Adam Milne and Kyle Jamieson are unavailable due to injury, but other players who have recovered from injury and made the squad include Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, James Neesham, and Ish Sodhi.

New Zealand coach Gary Stead is confident that the squad has all bases covered for the varied conditions they may face in the West Indies. He praised Matt Henry for his hard work in improving his skills across all phases of the T20 game. Stead also commended Rachin Ravindra for his consistent performances over the past year.

The full New Zealand squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup includes: Kane Williamson (c), Finn Allen, Trent Boult, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Devon Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, Daryl Mitchell, Jimmy Neesham
